Abstract

"Background : Carcinoma of the breast is still the leading cause of death due to malignancy in women between 40 to 44 years old. Carcinoma of the breast are 32 % of all malignancy in women and responsible for 19 % of death in women due to carcinoma. The developing of breast cancer correlated with the angiogenesis process within the tumor and that is why several studies revealed that the VEGF enzyme ( one of the factors responsible for angiogenesis ) is over expressed in breast carcinoma It has been established that histopathology grading is one of the predominant prognostic factors of breast cancer. Several studies showed that there is correlation between expression of VEGF with histopathology grading in carcinoma of the breast. Objective: To fmd the correlation between histopathology grading and expression of VEGF in breast invasive ductal carcinoma. Metbod : Samples are all paraffin blocks of breast invasive ductal carcinoma patients stored in Department of Pathology Anatomy Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya, in the year of· 2007, regardless the stage of breast carcinoma, and stained for VEGF immunohistochemistry. Subject are documented from the medical record in Oncology Division, Department of Surgery Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya."
