Abstract
Making thesis as the final requirement for undergraduate level degree could lead anxiety. This anxiety could cause byineffective interpersonal communication between students and advisor lecturers. The aim of this study was to determine relationship between student perceptions about studentlecturer communication andstudent anxiety level who works on undergraduate thesisin Faculty of Nursing Airlangga University.
This study used cross-sectional design and the population was senior student who works on thesis (8th semester) 2011/2012 Faculty of Nursing Airlangga University. There were 74 students who met inclusion criteria as the sample of this study. Data were collected by questionnaires and analyzed by Spearmen Rho test with significance value of ρ <0.05.
The result of Spearmen Rho test showed a significance value of ρ = 0.000 with the relationship valueof r = 0.682. The result showed there was a strong relationship between student perception of interpersonal communication student-advisor lecturer and student anxiety level who works
on undergraduate thesis in Faculty of Nursing Airlangga University.
There were a lot of factors that could affect student anxiety level who works on thesis, such as environment and personal factor. This study has been proved that interpersonal communication has a strong relationship with
student anxiety level. Hence it is suggested to build an effective interpersonal communication between student and advisor lecturer in arranging process of thesis.
