Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a degenerative disease with high prevalence that happens in many countries and high risk cause die. The objective of the this study was to know the effect of decoction of Averrhoa Blimbi L leaves on blood glucose level regulation in diabetes mellitus mice. This research using a true experimental design, and the method was prepost test by sample of 24, 8-10 weeks old-male mice, 20-30 grams weight, divided into three group (normal control group, diabetes control group without treatment, treatment group 100% b/v decoction and treatment group 200% b/v decoction). This classification was done randomize. Independent variable was Averrhoa Blimbi L leaves decoction (0,2 cc/10 gram bb) as a treatment which it given per os (oral) and dependent variable were blood glucose level after 8 days giving treatment with Averrhoa Blimbi L leaves decoction. Data were collected by measurement with electronic glucose test and analyzed with one-way Anova of significant level p<0,05. Result showed that there was difference between treatment group and diabetes control group (without treatment) for glucose level after giving treatment with Averrhoa Blimbi L leaves decoction (p<0,05). In other hand, there was no significant result between normal control group and treatment group for glucose level after giving treatment with Averrhoa Blimbi L leaves decoction 200% (p>0,05). Averrhoa Blimbi L leaves consist of many substance, there are alkaloid, and tannin which it has many function to regulation blood glucose level In can be concluded, Averrhoa Blimbi L leaves decoction (0,2 ml/10 gram bb) are adequate for regulating blood glucose level in diabetes mellitus mice after 8 days giving treatment.
