Abstract

Health human recources can be regarded as the heart of the health system. Today, remote areas of Indonesia often lack of health workers to fulfill the the needs of people. This study analyzed about the factors related with job preference of health students, who will become health workers. This study is a survey research, used questionnaire with total respondents were 224 students, that obtained from stratified random sampling of 509 health student of Airlangga University, include medical, midwifery, dentist and nursing school. The final data were analyzed using Spearman's Rho correlation test with a level of significant p value < 0.05. In this research analyzed incentive and non-material incentive factors of job preference in remote areas of indonesia. The result, correlation with the significant value of each analysis is 0.000 (p) for the incentive materials, and 0.007 (p) for the non-incentive materials. It was strongly influence to facilities and secondary education facilities which give impact to the job preference in remote areas of health students. That two things are an option with the largest percentage of other factors such as money, housing, vehicles, communication and entertainment facilities, education and training, promoted as a civil servants, promotion and career advancement. This research will be useful for educational institutions, hospitals and health centers, and job seekers as one reference and consideration when they would choose a job, especially in remote area.
