Abstract

"The initiation and maintenance of spennatogenesis require the secretion of gonadotropins from the pituitary and thus is dependent on balance of the hypothalamo-pituitary-testis axis. A major component of the negative feedback action of androgens on gonadotropin secretion is mediated via aromatization to oestrogens. Phytoestrogens, a compound that has oestrogenic etrect can give negative feedback of gonadotropins secretion to decrease of spermatogenesis. Decrease of spennatogenesis can be identified by decrease of numbers of spennatogenic cells that be followed by influenced of seminiferous tubules shown. One of source of phytoestrogens is soybean and its product. The goa1 of this research to mow the influence given soybean extract to seminiferous tubules microscopic shown and spennatogenic cells. This research use 50 adult mice (sexually mature). They were divided into five groups, each group consisted of ten mice. One group (control group) was given solution of CMC Na + 0,5%, and the others group was given soybean extract varietas Ijen by dosage: 9,1 mglKgBWfday; 18,2 mglKgBWfday; 36,4 mglKgBWfday; and 72,8 mgIKgBW/day. Extract of soybean was soluted by CMC Na+O,S%. Treatment was given by using sonde for 3S day. At the end of treatment, mice were killed, the left testis was fixed in Buffer formaline and embedding in wax, then stained by the Hematoxylin Eosin (HE) method. The result of this study showed that soybean extract can decrease thick of setuiniferous epithelium at dosage 18,2 mgIKgBWfday and 36,4 mglKgBW/day; soybean extract decrease numbers of spennatogonia and primary spermatocytes at all of dosage and show relationship dose-response; and soybean extract decrease numbers of spennatid and also show relationship dose-response. The conclusion of the study was that soybean extract can decrease the numbers of spennatogenic cells, and also decrease the thick of seminiferous epithelium."
