Abstract
Adolescent are going through cognitive maturation and wider social environment. Success in adolescence is represented by achievement in school.
Adjustment to Islamic boarding school determines adolescent behavior in achieving their goal in school. Therefore, student must have positive adjustment during stay in Islamic boarding school. Objective of this research was to find out
relationship of adjustment to Islamic boarding school environment and student’s learning achievement.
This research was a cross sectional design. Subjects of this research were adolescent of 13-14 years of age who lived in Islamic boarding school in SMP Muhammadiyah 12 Paciran Lamongan. Sample was 146 respondents.
Independent variable of this research was adjustment and dependent variable was learning achievement. Data were collected using questionnaire and average value of report card and were subsequently analyzed using Spearman’s Rho Correlation Test with significance value at α ≤ 0,05
Result of the analysis revealed an existence of correlation between adjustment to Islamic boarding school environment and student’s learning achievement (p = 0,024).
Environment is the one factor affect in education process. In this research, adjustment to Islamic boarding school only has a very low influence in increasing student’s learning achievement. Application of adjustment in each student
affected by many factors; internal factors such as motives and personality as well as external factors such as education, and job of parent. It determines student’s
capability and will supporting their self appropriated with their development needs.
