Abstract

Malnutrition is a complex problem. It wasn't caused only by insufficient nurition, but also the knowledge, attitude and the practice in nutrition. In 2012, at Puskesmas Sarina, the prevalency of malnutrition children under 5 years old score was 5,0 %, and became the second highest number in Belu recidence. The aim of this research was to analyze correlation between knowledge, attitude and mother’s practice in nutrition for malnutrition children under 5 years old at Puskemas Sarina. This research carried out based on descriptive analysis using cross sectional approach. Twenty eight mothers of malnutrition children under 5 years old was taken as sample cases. Independent variabel was knowledge and attitude of mother while. Dependent variabel was mother’s practice in nutrition of malnutrition children under 5 years old. Data was collected using questionnaire and form of food recall 24 hours. The correlation between both variabel knows by Spearman rank test with α= 0,05. The result showed that the mother's knowledge had correlation with mother’s practice in nutrition (p=0,009) with correlation coefficient 0,485. The attitude also correlated with mother’s practice in nutrition (p=0,001) with correlation coefficient 0,593. It can be concluded that the knowledge and attitude of mother correlated withthe practice in nutrition for malnutrition children under 5 years old. It hopes that Health Department and nurse can optimize nutrition programs in purpose to decrease malnutrition of children, through the prevention and treatment of malnutrition monitoring and supplementary feeding (PMT) periodically to see the condition of malnutrition children under 5 years old.
