Abstract
Serum antibody production and protection against A. hydrophila was examined in carp fish (Cyprinus carpi° L.). Heat killed (bacterin) A. hydrophila was given by direct immersion and hyperosmotic infiltration at a dose of 108 cells/ml and there was different in antibody titers between immersion and hyperosmotic infiltration groups. Following the administration of bacterin, titer reached the peak in five weeks in carp fish from immersion groups and six weeks in carp fish from hyperosmotic infiltration groups. Upon challenge, the protective ability were significantly different between control and bacterin administration groups, but not statistically different between immersion and hyperosmotic infiltration groups. A relatif level of 100% was obtained within four weeks, six weeks, and eight weeks and 96,67% was found .two-weeks post-bacterin administration. This study indicates that administration of bacterin A. hydrophila by direct immersion or hyperosmotic infiltration resulted in increased protective immunity
