Abstract
Family Planning program aimed to manage pregnancy. The role of health care provider support government family planning program. One of the roles of health care provider is a family planning counselor. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of health workers in providing family planning counseling with the use of contraceptive device in women. The study design was descriptive cross sectional analytic approach. The independent variable in this study was the role of health workers in providing family planning counseling. The dependent variable in this study was the use of contraception in women of childbearing age couples. The samples were 56 women of reproductive age couples in health care center Rafae (Puskesmas) based on inclusion criteria. Questionnaires given to respondent and assisted by the researcher. Based on the results of statistical tests in the study correlation Spearman Rho role of health workers in providing family planning counseling with the use of contraceptives p=0.009 (α<0.05) means that H1 was accepted that there was a relationship between the role of health workers in providing family planning counseling with the use of contraception in women at Puskesmas Rafae. There was also found r= 0.348, which means the level of correlation between the variables role of health workers in providing counseling of family planning with the use of contraception in women have low cohesion. Most of the respondents had a negative perception of the role of health workers in providing family planning counseling. There were many choices of contraception but most of the respondents in puskesmas Rafae only used hormonal contraception methods. The low correlation between the role of health workers in providing counseling to the use of contraceptives indicated of other factors to change the decision of using contraceptives both of the types or the mounts.
