Nilai Prediksi Usg Terhadap Prosesus Vaginalis Peritonei Sisi Kontra Lateral Pada Anak Dengan Hernia Inguinalis Lateralis Satu Sisi.
Thesis thesis, UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA.
Abstract
The incidence of inguinal hernia in children and infants was reported ranges from 1- 4,4 %, boys are affected 3- 10 times more than girls, and in both genders right sided hernias predominate. The incidence of metachronous hernia of low birth weight premature infants 10 — 15 %, and children or aterm infants 10 %.
Following repair of a unilateral inguinal hernia, a hernia may develop in the opposite groin, It is
a question, whether we need for contralateral exploration ? , It's still controversion. Truong and
others (1993) from Germany reported that sensitivity of sonography 85 % and specificity > 96
%.
The aim of this study is to prove that predictive value of ultrasonography of the persistent processus vaginalis in contralateral unilateral inguinal hernia. The subjects of this study were 22 patients admitted with suspected persistent processus vaginalis peritonei from ultrasonography for contralateral exploration.
This study result that with sonography we found persistent processus vaginalis below or the same 25 mm, sensitivity 87.5 %, specificity 66.7 %, Positive predictive value 87,5% and negative predictive value 66,7 %.
Ultrasonography can be a help for detection of persistent processus vaginalis.
