Abstract

Spermatogenesis is highly sensitive at various enviromental influence, high temperature is one of them. The increased of temperature for few degrees will distrub spermatogenesis. Previous research on varicocele and criptorchid, which testicle was exposed on body temperature resulted in the spennatogenesis disturbance. The present research was animal to determine and whether the exposure of testicle on various temperature and various lenght of time might distrub further process of spermatogenesis is mice. Factorial design was used in this research. Ninty-six male mice that were divided into 2 groups : 48 tnice group I and 48 mice in group II, then each group were divided into 12 sub pou~s each consisted 4 mice. All mice were exposed to scrotal heating at 39°, 40, 41 C 30 minute/day for 1,4 and 7 days. Mice in each group were killed the day after and 35 day after end exposure. Histological observation was represented by observation of testicle weight, seminiferous tubular diameter, the number of spermatogonia cells, the number of primary spermatocyte cells and the number of spermatid cells. The result showed that temperature exposure inhibited spermatogenesis in the groups of mice except in group on 39°C for 1 day. There were significant differences on the mean of testicular weight, seminiferous tubular diameter, the number of spermatogonia cells, the number of primary spermatocyte cells and the number of spermatid cells between treattnent and control groups (p < 0,05). There were no recovery of spermatogenesis 35 days after exposure except in group 39°C for 1 day. It was concluded that the higher temperature and the lenght of exposure influenced spennatogenesis through histological changes of the testis.
