Abstract
Events, harm or injury resulting from patients treatment process, either provided or
not provided. Nurse, as one of the providers of patient safety, should have wide
knowledge, reliable attitude and behavior, to provide positive effects to the
patients. The purpose of study to identify about knowledge, attitude on patient
safety on the change of nurse’s behaviour.
This study was a pre-experimental study using one-group pre-post test
design.This study was conducted at NICU, GBPT, Dr. Soetomo Hospitals,
Surabaya. Respondents Total Sampling were ten persons. The independent
variable was health education on patient’s safety, and the dependent variable was
nurse’s behavior, which consist of knowledge, attitude and behaviour. Data were
collected using observation and questionnaire. Health education patient safety was
given to small groups, each comprising 2-3 persons. After health education was
given for 3-4 days, post-test was conducted by providing questionnaire to the
respondents, along with observation. Obtained data were analyzed with nonparametric
statistical test, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.
The result of the study indicated that health education had influence on the
change of nurse’s behavior in providing patient safety. Health education on
patient safety was found to have influence on nurse’s level of knowledge on
patient safety (p = 0,025), attitude (p = 0,014) and behavior or psikomotor (p =
0,011).
