Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is metabolic disease with characteristic hyperglycemia which can caused by abnormalities of insulin secretion, insulin work or both. Change of blood glucose level influenced by exercise. Many exercise technique that was used by Diabetes include by Ling Tien Kung without knowing the effect of these exercise. The aimed of this study was to determine the effect of the Ling Tien Kung technique on blood glucose level regulation in Diabetes Mellitus patients in Krian Public Health Center Sidoarjo. A quasy experimental pre and post test design was used in this study. The independent variable was Ling Tien Kung technique. The dependent variable was blood glucose level. The population was Diabetes mellitus patients in Krian Public Health Sidoarjo. Total sample were 16 respondents each group. Sample were taken by using simple random sampling who met to the inclution criteria. Data were collected by questionnaire and observation, then analyzed by using paired t test and independent t test with level of significance ≤0.05 The result showed that blood glucose level of experiment group had significance level of p=0.000. Blood glucose level of control group had significance level of p=0.018. Result of independent t test obtained p=0.000 that there were significant different blood glucose level between intervention group and control group. Ling Tien Kung decrease blood glucose level in Diabetes mellitus related to stretching. Stretching stimulated AMPK and GLUT 4 translocation. AMPK and GLUT 4 increased glucose uptake, they were caused decrease of blood glucose level. Further studies should involve larger respondents, longer time, and better measurement tools to obtain more accurate results.
