Abstract

In the modern society, most of mother leaving her children in others caring like day care facility or housemaid care, but which one better is unknown. The study was aimed to analyze differences the independent development in preschool children who get day care and housemaid care. The study used cross sectional design. The population was preschool children in Kidergarten Kusuma RSUD Dr. Soetomo who get day care or housemaid care with their housemaid or nursemaid. Total sample was 16 respondents, enrolled using purposive sample method. The independent variables in this research were day care and housemaid care and dependent variable was independence. Data were collected using questionnaire and observation, and were analyzed by Mann Whitney U Test with significant level p≤0.05. The result showed that any differences of independence of preschool children who get day care and housemaid care (p=0,012). The preschool children in day care more independent than who in housemaid care. Most of preschool children in day care have better independence in physical aspect, so do the preschool children in day care with good stimuli. It can be recommended that better leave children in day care facility than housemaid care. Further studies should involve larger respondents, better measurement tools to obtain more accurate results and analyze factors that influence in independence.
