Abstract

The perineum’s torn when was partus can make an injury, its need a special treatment to prevent an infection. The infection happened if the postpartum mother being afraid to clean the perineum area, and this condition will make the injury doesn’t recovery well in 6-7 days. They did it because they’v got a few knowledge about how to clean the perineum. A good knowledge and a good attitude of postpartum mother about perineum treatment will not make an infection comes. This study used cross sectional design. The population is all primipara and multipara of maternal postpartum with normal partus type that was came in join care ward of Kertosono Hospital. The samples was 30 respondents, selected by using purposive sampling. The independent variable are knowledge and attitude of postpartum mother. The dependent variable is behaviour of perineum infection prevention. Data was taken by questionnaire and analyzed with Spearman’s Rho test with level of significance p ≤ 0.05. The result showed that the knowledge of postpartum mother had inadequate point in 27%, moderate in 63% and adequate in 10%. Attitude was good of positive in 43% and negative in 57%. Behaviour of perineum infection prevention was reliable in 23%, moderate in 47% and unreliable in 30%. That result revealed that correlation between knowledge with attitude about perineum treatment was p = 0,006, r = 0,847. Correlation of knowledge with behaviour of perineum infection prevention was p = 0,018, r = 0,429, and correlation between attitude with behaviour of perineum infection prevention was p = 0,004, r = 0,509. Its conclude that theres a correlation between knowledge and attitude of postpartum mother about perineum treatment with behaviour of perineum infection prevention. We hope that postpartum mother getting more knowledge or information and good attitude to care their perineum, because its make the infection never come.
