Abstract
Insomnia is a sleep dysfunction. Insomnia caused by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Prevalence of insomnia in the elderly in Indonesia was quite high, around
67%. Insomnia in the elderly could be prevented with aerobic low impact exercise. The purpose of this research was explained influence of aerobic low impact exercise to decreased of insomnia in elderly Yayasan Cinta Orang Miskin
(COM) Surabaya.
The design in this research was used pre experiment group (One- Group Pre-Post Test Design). The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the number of respondents 12 elderly people. The independent variable was influence
of aerobic low impact exercise. The dependent variable was decreased of insomnia. Data collection conducted before and after aerobic low impact exercise was used instruments Pittsburgh Insomnia Rating Scale (PIRS). Data analyzed
used Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test with significance α<0,05
The result of the study, there was decreased in the level of insomnia respondents before and after the aerobik low impact exercise three times a week.
The result of statistical test showed ρ=0,008 it means there is an influence of aerobic low impact exercise to decreased of insomnia in elderly.
It could be concluded that aerobic low impact exercise three times a week was lower the level of insomnia in elderly Yayasan Cinta Orang Miskin (COM) Surabaya. Based on the research results, the nurse as care providers was advised
to applyed the aerobic low impact exercise as one of the interventions for the elderly who experienced a sleep dysfunction (insomnia).
