Abstract

Antenatal care (ANC) constitutes the most important health service to decrease mother and infant mortality. The Effort to reduce the mortality rate starts from motivation in pregnant mother to perform regular ANC visits in accordance with the standard. This research aimed at identifying gravida status, motivation, regularity visited and also to determine the difference of motivation and regularity level between primigravida and multigravida during their pregnancy. This research was descriptive analytic design with comparative study that was conducted on primigravida and multigravida at Puskesmas Alon-Alon of Gresik since June 11 – 25 2013. The independent variable was status gravida and the dependent variable was motivation and regularity. We compare between 10 primigravida and 10 multigravida mothers. Sample taking by purposive sampling method. The result showed that half of primigravida have high motivation with quite regulary visits and majority of multigravida have good enough motivation with a few regularly visits. There is difference of motivation and regularity level between primigravida and multigravida during their pregnancy term with p value = 0,042 and p value = 0,028 (<α 0,05). It can be concluded that primigravida and multigravida mothers to still conduct ANC care in exisiting health facilities and for health employee to keep giving motivation to pregnant mothers by elucidation.
