Abstract
The most health mentally problem in elderly was depression. Depression
frequently happen in women. Factors that cause depression are biologic,
psychologic and social. The aim of this study is to investigate factor related to
Depression Degree for elderly living in the elderly hostels and RW 1 Pare Village.
Design used in this study was correlation design. The population were all
elderly living in elderly hostels Pare and Rw1 Pare Village. Sample providable by
using purposive sampling and there were 47 at elderly hostels and 36 at Rw 1 Pare
Village as a respondent. Data was collected by using structure questionnaire. Data
was analyzed using Spearman’s rho test and logistic regression test with level of
significant α < 0,05.
Result showed that depression degree for older people living in the elderly
hostels had correlation with biologic factors (p=0,040), psychologic factors
(p=0,021), social fators (p=0,020) and for older people living at home had
correlation with biologic factors (p=0,033)and psychologic factors (p=0,026) but
hadn’t correlation with social factors (p=0,911)
It can be concluded that the dominant factor in elderly hostels that
correlation with depression is psychologic factors and dominant factor elderly
living at home is psychologic factors. Further studies should involve larger
respondents and better measurement tools to obtain more accurate results.
