Abstract

Diabetes mellitus prevelance is increasing every year. Myrmecodia pendens plants was known as one of diabetes medicine by people in Papua. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect water boiled of Myrmecodia pendens plant to blood glucose regulation in diabetic’s mice (Mus musculus) This study was used true experimental design. This study was carried out on 28 male mice which suffered diabetes mellitus that divided into four groups, normal control groups, diabetic control group, first treatment groups, and second treatment groups. Data were collected by observation. Data were analyzed by Independent simples T-Test The result showed by Paired t-test proved that blood glucose level revealed p=0.001, p= 0.002,p=0.000, p=0,000 control normal group, control diabetic group, first treatment groups and second treatment groups. Analysis by Independent simples T-Test proved that blood glucose level revealed p=0.002 for control diabetic group with first treatment groups, p=0.010 control diabetic group with second treatment groups, and p=0.016 first treatment groups with second treatment groups. It can be concluded that Myrmecodia pendens plants water boiled (dose 17.75 mg/25 gram body weight and dose 8.875mg/25 gram body weight) affected to blood glucose level regulation. Myrmecodia pendens plants water boiled may be akind of useful non medical therapi for regulate blood glucose level in patient with diabetes mellitus.
