Abstract
Attention deficit is one of three main child problems with Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) that makes child difficult to pay attention
in their activities or follow instruction. This study used Mozart instrument music
that can decrease the symptoms. Mozart music will stimulate the brain wave. In
ADHD case, theta waves will be decreased and beta waves increased.
This study used quasi experiment design taken by purposive sampling.
The population was ADHD students of SKK Bangun Bangsa. Totally sample was
14 students that fulfilled the inclusions criteria consist of 7 in treatment group and
another in control group. Independent variable was Mozart instrument music and
dependent variable was attention of ADHD children. Data was collected by SNAP
IV Rating Scale which is evaluated by teachers. Then, it was analyzed by
Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney Test with significance level ≤
0,05.
The result showed Wilcoxon sign rank test p=0,014 in treatment group and
p=0,317 in control group, Mann Whitney Test obtained p=0,011. It was mean
there was significance effect of Mozart instrument music therapy.
It can be concluded the Mozart instrument music is affected to increase
attention of ADHD children. This therapy recommended for the teachers and
parents who have ADHD child to be non-pharmacological therapy to help the
children’s development. Further studies should involve other main problems of
ADHD to be more real effect
