Abstract

A long confinement can cause an inefficient HIS (inadequate), foetus factor (narrow, tight, flank, disparity serviks, vagina, tumor). Long confinement can make asphyxia as a result for a new baby born, wich mean that is a fail to breathe spontaneously and regular immadiatelly after delivering birth. So we need to anticipate with watching a progress confinement. This study was aimed to prove an existance between progress of confinement and occurance asphyxia of new baby born. Design used in this study was cross sectional design. The population was all mother who have confinement in RSUD Kepanjen of Malang Regency. Total sampel was 32 respondents, taken according to inclusion criteria. The independent variabels werer a progress of Kala 1 in confinement. The dependent variabels was an asphyxia new baby born. Data were collected using a observation sheet (check list). Data were then analyzed using statistical test of Chi Square by significance of = 0,05. Results showed that a progress of Kala 1 in confinement had no correlation with asphyxia new baby born (p = 0,087 and p = 0,064). It can be concluded that Kala 2 in confinement and a helper still have an effect on asphyxia new baby born. Further more this reserch need an early analyze to recognized a sign of asphyxia.
