Abstract

Introduction, growth development of preschool really important because children already adapted with environment, if having problem will impact on later development. Mother’s role give stimulation important to achieve optimal development. But this time mothers in family also work, in Indonesia working mother increase 47,24%. This can have impact of mother to do their roles of stimulation development for their children. This research want to know the differences mother’s role in preschool growth development stimulation from working and not working mothers. Design used in this study was analitic descriptive. Population was working and not working mother with preschool at Banyu Urip Public Health Center Surabaya’s workfield, selected by purposive sampling. The sample were 17 working mothers and 17 not working mothers. The independent variable was role of working and not working mothers and the dependent variable was stimulation of preschool growth development.. The instrument used questionnaire. The statistical test used in Mann Whitney with significant level p < 0,05. Result showed that there was difference between working and not working mothers in preschool stimulation development (significance gets p = 0,018). Working mother got classification with good enough result and not working mother got classification best and good enough result for mother’s role stimulation in preschool. Conclusion that mother’s role at preschool growth development at working and not working mothers had significant differences further stimulation. Should be considered for working mother to spend much time and activities, and not working mother to give diverse activities for children.
