Abstract

Emotional intelligence is an ability to express, recognize, and organize emotion both self emotion and others emotion with constructive acts. Emotional intelligence better to be develop earlier in childhood to make them easier in solving their lifetime problems. Emotion cards is one of instruments to improve children emotional intelligence. The objective of this research was to find outaffects of emotion cards on 1st grader emotional intelligence in elementary school (7-8 year). Designed used in this study was Quasy-Eksperimental design with non probability sampling (purposive sampling). The population was all children which the age between 7-8 year in the SDI Insan Kamil Tuban. Samples consist of 9 respondent from kontrol group and 9 respondent from eksperimen group wich received emotion cards. The sample was take according to inclusion criteria. Data were collected with observational paper and analized by using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney U test with the significant level α ≤ 0,05. The statistic result by using Mann Whitney U Test showed that there were not differences of emotional intelligence before and after intervention between control group and eksperimen group. Whereas Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed that there were not differences of emotional intelligence before and after intervention on the group which were not given emotion cards (α= 0,317) and thegroup which were given emotion cards (α= 0,739). It can be concluded that emotion cards was not influence to increaseemotional intelligence children. Further research should involve better measurement tools to obtain more accurate results
