Abstract
Plyometric training is a kind of training to enhance the physical ability in particular for strength, speed, and explosive power. Many kinds of this training has been applied in concentrating the physical training for athletes. This research was aimed at recognizing the influence of plyometric training for barrier jump, with the same height of barrier (40cm) and varied height (35 and 45 em) against the increasing of running speed ability for 30 meters, leg muscle strength and explosive power of leg. This research is a true experiment one with the Randomized control group pre test -post test Design research planning. Research samples are 99 male students with 19 - 21 of age. In which they are students of Sport Coaching Education, Sport Science Faculty, Medan Governmental University. The samples are divided into three groups with Ordinary Match Pairing in manner, each group comprising of 33 students. Group 1 is not treated or appointed as a control group, Group 2 is treated with plyometric training for barrier jump 40 em in height, Group 3 is treated plyometric training with barrier of35 and 45 in height. The training was done three times for six weeks, and the measured variables are weight, height of body, and length of leg, body mass index, running speed for 30 meters, strength and explo.sive power of leg muscle. The measured dependent variable of 30 meters running speed measured with photo gate meter, strength of leg muscle with leg dynamometer and explosive power with panel vertical jump. The acquired data are processed with descriptive statistical, t test, ANOVA and MANOV A and correlation test with significance of 5%. The results show that: 1 ). The plyometric training for barrier of 40 em in height (4.434 ± 0.261/s) P=O.OOl and plyometric for barrier of35 and 45 em in height (4.277 ± 0.184/s) P=O.OOO increase 30 meters sprint than control (4.592± 0.274/s) with P=0.741, for 40 em barrier jump plyometric training (215.820± 1.970/kg) P=O.OOO and for 35 and 45 em (220.390±42.760/kg) P=O.OOO increase strength of leg muscle than control (192.360±47.700/kg) with P=0.425, the barrier jump plyometric training for 40 em in height (92.955±8.731/kg-m/s) P=0.038 and for 35 and 45 em (95.450±9.972kgm/ s) P=O.OOO increase explosive power of leg muscle than control (96.168±10.070/kgm/ dt) with P=0.686. 2). The varied height of barrier in plyometric training, greater its influence against the running speed of 30 meter (P=O.OOO) and strength of leg muscle (P=0.049), if it is compared with the unvaried height of barrier in plyometric training against the 30 meters sprint (P=0.027) and strength of leg muscle (P=0.118). 3). There is no difference between the varied height of barrier in plyometric training (P=0.951) and the varied one (P=0.367) against the explosive power of leg muscle.
