Abstract
Usaha Kesehatan Sekolah (UKS) is an integrated effort across programs and sectors in order to improve the health and well-established health behavior of school-age children who are in schools and religious colleges. UKS aims to make the students have the knowledge, attitudes and skills to implement the principles of healthy living also life and the deterrent power of smoking. The purpose of this study was to analyze correlation between implementation of UKS with male students' knowledge and attitudes of smoking at SMP Negeri 1 Kalisat. Design of the study was a descriptive analytic cross sectional. The population was the male students of class VII and VII SMP Negeri 1 Kalisat. The data were collected with a questionnaire, then analyzed with spearman rank test, and a significant level at <0.05. Results showed there is a correlation between the implementation of UKS and knowledge of smoking with a significance level of p = 0.02 and correlation coefficient r = 0.421. It is concluded there is a correlation between the implementation of the UKS and knowledge of smoking by male students of SMP Negeri 1 Kalisat. The higher the implementation of the UKS, the higher knowledge the students have. As for the correlation between the implementation of UKS and smoking attitude, the results indicate a significance level of p = 0.649. It is concluded there is no correlation between the implementation of the UKS and smoking attitude by male students of SMP Negeri 1 Kalisat. Most of the respondents have positive attitude seemed more influenced by cultural and religious factors. All of respondents are moslems, and there are some rules about prohibition of smoking for them. Recommended to the school and other related parties in order to improve the implementation of UKS in SMP Negeri 1 Kalisat, especially for health education program, for increasing knowledge of students.
