Abstract

Immunization is an effort to increase immunity. There are several types of immunization, e.g., BCG, DPT, hepatitis, polio and measles. For some mother, the side effects of immunization often result in negative perception as their babies become ill. This study was intended to find the correlation between the knowledge factor, culture factor, and implemention of children immunization factor in Nyabakan Timur, Sumenep. This study used cross-sectional design. Population consisted of 55 mother who had babies. Sample, enrolled using purposive sampling, there are 55 mothers who brought their babies to posyandu. The independent variable was knowledge on immunization, culture, and implemention of children immunization. The dependent variable was the mother’s perception to implemention of children immunization. Data were collected using Spearman statistical test with significance level p < 0.05. Results showed that most of the respondent had sufficient knowledge on immunization (45,5 %), not incompatible with culture (87,2 %), and good implemention of children immunization (90,9 %). There was correlation between knowledge (p=0.04), culture (0.00), and implemention of chlidren immunization (0.01) with the the mother’s perception to implemention of children immunization. In conclusion, higher level of knowledge, culture, and implemention of children immunization will have effect on the mother’s perception to implemention of children immunization. As a suggestion, the health care provider should enhance health promotion, and posyandu caders should also take part in providing information on immunization, and the mothers themselvesshould actively bring their children to posyandu for being immunized.
