Abstract

Construction workers is one of vulnerable population to HIV/AIDS. This happen to the construction worker due to lack of attention to get socialization associated with the risk of transmission of HIV/AIDS and vulnerable undertake risky behavior. The purpose of this study is to explain about the risk behaviors of HIV/AIDS on the construction workers based on Stimulus-Organism-Response theory. This study used descriptive analytic design with survey. Respondents were construction workers at Educity Residence Project PT. PP Persero Surabaya. Sampling had done by convenience sampling technique and 50 respondents were included. The independent variable were knowledge and attitude. The Dependent variable was risk behaviors of HIV/AIDS on construction workers. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearmen Rho test with a significance level p <0.05. The results showed that there is a relationship between knowledge with risk behaviors of HIV/AIDS on the construction workers with significance p = 0.041 and r = 0.29. Attitude was not associated with risk behaviors of HIV/AIDS on the construction workers with significance p = 0.669 and r = 0.062 Conclusions from the study showed that knowledge can influence risk behaviors of HIV/AIDS and attitude can't influence risk behaviors of HIV/AIDS on the construction workers. Health and Safety at Project of Educity Residence PT PP Persero Surabaya was expected to provide more intensive socialization program related to transmission risk factors, hazards and how to access HIV/AIDS care services in order to prevention transmission of HIV/AIDS.
