Abstract

Rehabilitation is a very important part for stroke patient recovery process at paretic (weakness) condition, because it can resolve muscle function, coordination, endurance, and the patient's self—confidence. One of the treatments (rehabilitation) at post stroke patient is ROM (range of motion). However, the effect of active ROM rehabilitation at post stroke infarct has not been reported to increase arm and leg function during hospitalization. The purpose of this study was to prove the effect of active ROM rehabilitation on arm and leg muscle function at post stroke infarct patient with hemiparetic. This study used quasy experimental design. The population was stroke infarct patients with hemiparetic in stroke unit RSU Dr. Soetomo Surabaya numbering to 45 people. Samples were recruited using consecutive sampling, and there were 10 samples who met the inclusion criteria. The observed variables were the arm function value and leg function value in stroke infarct patients with hemiparetic. Data were collected by observation. Then, data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney Test with level of significance a < 0,05. Results of this study showed that all of the respondents at experimental group have increasing muscle function value, amounting two grade for arm (p.004) and three grade for leg (p-10.004). Majority of respondents at control group also showed have increase, amounting to one grade for arm (pA).014) and one grade for leg (p.004). It indicated that there was significant effect of rehabilitate active ROM on function of muscle of arm and leg in stroke infarct patients with hemiparetic. It can be concluded that is significant effect of active ROM rehabilitation on arm and leg muscle function in post stroke infarct patients with hemiparetic. Active ROM rehabilitation three times a day can help to reorganize muscle needed by our body.
