Abstract

Aging process is a natural phenomenon occurring in each individual. Most of aged individuals or elderly have difficulties in their effort to cope with the process. Folk home as a place with long stay rehabilitation and care for elderly have important roles to solve their problems. However, many previously researches said that the elderly's quality of life which stay at folk home is lower than stay at home. The purpose of this study was to analyze the dominant factor that influences the elderly's quality of life in Hargo Dedali Folk Home Surabaya Design used in this study was cross sectional design. The population was all elderly in Hargo Dedali Folk Home Surabaya. This study used purposive sampling. Sample comprised 19 individuals who met the inclusion criteria. The indep€ndcnt variables in this study were physical factor, psychological factor, social factor, and environment factor. The dependent variable was the elderly's quality of life. Data were collected using The Bref Version of World Health Organization's Quality of Life Questionnaire and Quality of Life Index: Generic Version-III. Linier regression analysis was done to determine influencing factor of quality oflife with significant level~ 0.05. The result showed that physical factor had influenced on quality of life (p = 0.000), psychological factor had influenced on quality of life (p = 0.000), social factor had influenced on quality of life (p = 0.001), and environment factor had influenced on qualityoflife (p = 0.004). Thisresearch can be conclude that physical factor, psychological factor, social factor,and environment factor had influenced on quality of life and psychological factorhad become dominant factor. The recommendation from result of this research isto organize routine health service; spiritual activities; skill trainings; and theopportunities for elderly to do their hobby. This program can collaborate with hospital, puskesmas or health institutions.
