Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a transmittable disease, which is in the recent Years showing an increase, either in new cases or in its death rate. One of the Efforts to overcome this problem is to prevent the transmission starting at family LeveL The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of health education On family behavior in the prevention of pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. This was a pre-experimental study using one group pretest posttest design.Population comprised all families with TB patients who actively came for Treatment at Community Health Center, Pandaan. Samples comprised 27 respondents, recruited based on inclusion criteria using purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionn~ire and st~ct~red interview t~ find the influence of Health education on family behavIor m the prevention of pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. Data were subsequently analyzed with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test with significance level of alpha= 0,05. The result showed that after receiving health education, the p values for knowledge was 0,000, attitude 0,000 and action 0,000. This indicated a significant influence of Health education. Conclusively, health education has a significant effect on the improvement of knowledge, attitude, and action in the effort to prevent pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. Further studies should involve larger samples.
