Abstract

old at generally primary tooth has completed 20 teeth. Primary tooth can't separate from rampant caries threat. Rampant caries are an oral disease which develop extremely acute, appear suddenly, resulting in extensive carious lesion, and affecting every teeth in the mouth, even that are not usually susceptible to decay such as the lower anterior teeth. Mothers' generally have no idea how to prevent rampant caries as they never obtain information on such issue. Health education is one factor that influence mothers knowledge and attitude. The objective of this study was to elaborate the influence of health education on the change of mothers' knowledge and attitude in rampant caries prevention. This was a pre experimental study using one group pretest posttest design. Samples of this study have 87 respondents by non probability sampling type purposive sampling technique. The independent variable was heath education. The dependent variable was mothers' knowledge and attitude. Data were collected by using questionnaire and analyzed statistically using wilcoxson signed rank test, with significant level of p<0,05. The result of wilcoxson signed rank test, with p=O,OOO for mothers' knowledge indicated the influence of health education on the change mothers' knowledge. Mothers' attitude had p=O,OOO which indicated the influence of health education on the change mothers' attitude. It can be concluded that health education on rampant caries prevention in children may change mothers' knowledge and attitude. Further need to be done for studying about analysis the factor which can influence the change of knowledge and attitude about prevention rampant caries in children.
