Abstract

Therapeutic communication is a communication that planned consciously and the activity focused to patient's recovery. This study was aimed to analize the corelation between nursing therapeutic communication and parents satisfication. Correlation study designs was used in this study. This study was doing in Dr. Soetomo Hospital, Surabaya in Desember 2012 with 30 respondents. The independent variable was therapeutic communication and the dependent variable was parents satisfaction. The data was colected by using quesionaire that the validity and reliability had been endured. Data were analysed by using Spearman rank correlation test. The result showed that majority respondents (64,29%) said that therapeutic communication make good satisfaction. Statistic result showed p=0,000, lower than a=0,05. It means that there is a high correlation between therapeutic communication and parents satisfaction (r=0,603). The conclusion is good therapeutic communication can make good satisfaction to parents that the children was hospitalized in Bona 2 ward Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya. The nurse should use therapeutic communication to increase parents satisfaction
