Abstract
Tuberculosis is an infection of the lung disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which remains to be major public health problem. Tuberculosis patients are often experiencing anorexia, weight loss and general malnutrition. In East Sumba district, the milk supplementary feeding has been administered not yet proven to be effective increasing the nutritional status of tuberculosis patients.
This study was using pre-experimental design conducted in Puskesmas Waingapu East Sumba, Involving 16 respondents as patients tuberculosis with body mass index of < 18,5. The data were collected by interview using a questionnaire and observation sheet and were then given the intervensions and were then analyzed using statistic Wilxocon Signed Rank Test with significance level of p ≤ 0,05.
The results showed an increasement in body mass index after the milk supplementary feeding. For government are increase cost to get milk and Puskesmas to managed milk distribution for tuberculosis patients. Based on the results of research above, milk supplementary feeding has been proven to be significantly effective in improving the nutritional status of tuberculosis patients
