Abstract

The preschool period marks a major step forward in gross motor, fine motor, language, and social behavior development. But many problems are happened in preschool development areas such as: gross motor problem, fine motor problem, language problem, and social behavior problem. Play activities change focus as the preschoolers learn new skill and understand their world. So that education with play activities is one of way to solve the developmental problems. There are some education models in preschool education that can be used to stimulating preschool development such as BCCT (Beyond Centers and Circle Times) model and Group model. The objective of this study was to identify comparison of gross motor, fine motor, language, and social behavior development between BCCT model and Group model in formal preschool education (kindergarten). The models can be used to optimizing preschool development. Design used in this study was comparative study. Sample consist of 21 respondents from BCCT model and 29 respondents from Group model. The sample was taken according to inclusion criteria. Data were collected with observation paper and questionnaire paper. Data were analyzed by using Mann Whitney u Test with significant level pS 0,05. The statistic result showed that there were differences of gross motor (p= 0,014), fine motor (p=0,345), language (p=0,006), and social behavior (p=0,444) development between BCCT model and Group model. It can be concluded that BCCT model is better than Group model to stimulate gross motor and language development in preschool but both of models have same effect to stimulate fine motor and social behavior in preschool. Further research on BCCT model should be carried out, so that it can be applied as an alternative way to stimulate preschool development in preschool education.
