Abstract

Patient with chronic renal disorder who run hemodialisis often experienced anuria with still conducting everyday moderate activity, eating and he/she should administer medication with water. Patient consuming drinking water resulted in water accumulation, caused his/her body weight increased, leg edema seen and tightness. This condition relapsed when patient went home, and when patient came again for hemodialisis as scheduled in the same condition, even it got worse. Patient behavior in lowering interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) was often not appropriate. The inappropriateness of patient behavior was caused by their lack of knowledge about solution restriction in lowering interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) on PGK patient who run hemodyalisis. Design used in the research was quasi-experiment, with pretest posttest control group design. Research population was PGK patient who run HD twice a week regularly by body weight increased 2: 3 kg, in HD installation of RSU Dr Soetomo Surabaya who qualified inclusion criteria. Number of sample was 17 respondent placed on treatment groups and 17 respondents placed on control groups collected with Non Probability Sampling, Purposive Sampling type. Of the research the independent variable was education, and as dependent variable was the obedient in restricting solution intake, and interdialytic weight gain. Data collection in the research was using observation sheet, questionnaire, and body weight. Observation sheet was used to measure patient psychomotor and interdyalitic complication. Analysis in the research was using Wilcoxon Signed Range Test with significance a :S 0,05, if the result was p = 0,008 (p :S 0,05) it meant that education about solution intake restriction influenced knowledge level. Mann Whitney Test resulted p = 0,317 ( p 2: 0,05) indicating no difference on post knowledge in control group and treatment group or in other word education about liquid intake restriction didn't effect on knowledge of solution intake restriction in PGK patient. Of the result above it could be concluded that education have effect on patient's knowledge. Therefore efforts to help lowering interdialytic weight gain by providing continuously education were required.
