Abstract

Healthy snacks are nutritious snacks which is free harmful substances and quite safe to be consumed by for school-aged children. School-age children need sufficient knowledge and positive attitudes in selecting healthy snacks. Health education with sound slide media is one of method to improve their knowledge and attitude in selecting healthy snacks. The objective of this study was to analyze effects of health education with sound slide media toward knowledge and attitude in selecting healthy snacks among 5th grades students at SDN Bayem 3 Kasembon Malang. A Pre-experimental study (one group pre-post test design) was used in this study. Total 40 respondents, whom chosen by total sampling method, were participated in this Independent variable was health education with sound slide media whereas dependent variable were knowledge and attitudes in selecting healthy snacks. Data were collected by using questionnaire. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to analyzed (=0.05). The results showed that there was significant effects of health education with sound slide media toward knowledge (p=0.000) and attitudes (p=0.009) in selecting healthy snacks among 5th grades students at SDN Bayem 3 Kasembon Malang. Giving health education with sound slide media would improve not only the knowledge but also the attitudes of school-aged children in selecting healthy snacks. Further studies with more variables to analyzed their correlation with knowledge and attitude in selecting healthy snacks, such as demographic factor, among school-aged children is needed.
