Abstract

Infants have critical periods during development. Stimulus is needed for optimize the development of infants. Swim therapy is a safe exercise to stimulate infant‟s motor development. This research aimed to analyze the correlation between swim therapy with infant's motor development. Design of this research was cross sectional study. This research used consecutive sampling during a month with total 21 infants by aged range 2-12 months in LITTLE BEE Baby Spa Surabaya. The independent variable in this research was swim therapy and the dependent variable was infant‟s motor development. The data in this research were collected using observation sheet for swim therapy and Denver II for infant's motor development. This research uses Spearman`s rho analysis with a significance level of p <0.05. The results showed swim therapy at LITTLE BEE Baby Spa in good categories (85.7%), mid (9.5%), and poor (4.8%). The majority of infant‟s motor development was normal. There was correlation between swim therapy and infant‟s motor development (p = 0.017; r = 0.516). The conclution of this research was swim therapy had significant relationship with infant‟s motor development. Swim therapy which done regularly will optimize infant‟s motor development. Further research is needed to analyze the correlation betwen swim therapy with infant‟s personal social and language development
