Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the effect of Eugenia polyantha extract to histophatological change of mammary gland Sprague dawley rats which induce with 20 mg/kg body weight DMBA. Twenty female rats (Rattus norvegicus strain Sprague dawley) 45 days old with 60-70 g body weight were devided into five groups. The first group was only given DMBA and corn oil, as PQ(>itive 1:9ntrQJ. The ~99Dd gr<;>μp w~ given CMC-N!l !ll1d ~orn oil, ~ neg!ltive control. The third group was given 250 mg/kg body weight Eugenia polyantha extract and DMBA. The fourth and fifth group were given the same treatment as the third group, only using higher dose of Eugenia polyantha was 500 and 750 mg/kg body weight. The data were compared using Krus/cal-Wallis and MannWithney test. This research showed that Eugenia polyantha extract changed the histopathological of rats mammary gland. There were decrease grade score from grade III to grade II and I. The effective dose of Eugenia polyantha extract to repair mammary gland cell was 500 mg/kg body weight.
