Abstract

Testosterone is a steroid hormone that produced in interstitial cell of testes, regulated the production by ICSH and the main base function in male sex behavior. The objective of this study was to analyze testosterone concentrations hormone at the morning and afternoon, therfore be able to interpretate better sexual activity in stallion. Ten stallions racehorse from 2,5 to 4 years old, the blood sample collected through jugular vein. Stallion racehorse were used that the result of crossing a female horse offspring of G3-G4 with a thoroughbred stud. Blood samples were collected at 05:00 a.m to 06:00 p.m and afternoon from 05:00 p.m to 06:00 p.m. Analysis of testosterone concentration using a competitive ELISA technique. The result measured levels thatt stallion racehorse hormone testosterone higher at the morning time with an average 2,41 ± 1,0 ng/ml, and low concentration found in the afternoon with an average 0,766 ±0,82 ng/ml. Based on the result of this study suggested mating or semen collection in stallion racehorse much better performed at the morning time is due to the testosterone concentrations.
