Abstract

This thesis is a study on literature which reveals out the values of life carried on in the studied work of art. In particular, the object of the study is the assasination of Julius Caesar in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. The main purpose of the thesis writer in this case is to expose the mystery of Julius Caesar's assassination in the play, to find out its real cause. There is a hypothesis that the murder is caused by the ill feeling of an old friend. In relation, the thesis writer wants to find the proofs if such reason is true. The theory used hereby is the objective theory of Abrams joined with the literary approach to keep the objectivity of the analysis. The study is focused on the literary work itself and what its elements suggest. Meanwhile, the methods chosen here are the descriptive method and the objective hermeneutics. The interpretations made up, especially on setting, are based on the facts presented within the elements of the play itself.
