Abstract

The purpose of this study is the writer intends to see the methods of translation widely used to translate specific tenns in the book that consists of dialogues from Indonesian to English. The descriptive qualitative research is used because the data is in the font of words not numbers. The research data is the specific terms in bilingual conversation book entitled Certain Important English Conversation written by Dra Grace Widjaja. It analyses the Indonesia specific tenn which translated into English term that found in the book. In analysing the data analysis, the writer uses the theory of translation methods by Peter Newmark. From the data analysis, the writer found that there are three methods applied in the book Certain Important English Conversation, those are; communicative, free, and idiomatic. The highest method found in the book is communicative translation as the most flexible method in translating the source language to the target language.
