Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to provide profound analysis toward Sean's behavior portrayed in Birth (2004) directed by Jonathan Glazer. The writer is going to analyze Sean's behavior that will be correlated with intrinsic approach focusing on the character and Psychoanalysis approach stressing on Freudian theory of Oedipus complex. By analyzing those approaches, the writer finds that there are several symptoms and effects of Oedipus complex seen from Sean's behavior. The major finding from the analysis of Sean's behavior is obsessive compulsive personality disorder. It is obviously seen from his excessive love toward Ana, a 30 year-old woman, in which he claims himself as the reincarnation of Ana's dead husband. The conclusion of this study is that Oedipus complex belongs to the important issue in children development as it can affect children's personality later.
