Abstract

Nowadays, this talk show is very popular in Indonesia television such as Indonesia Lawyers Club. This Talk show is very interesting to study because they were not only involving many participants who are expert in their field, but also they use implicature in conversation. This is a pragmatic study that aims to analyze the conversational impJicature which occur between the host and the participants of Indonesia Lawyers Club. Conversational implicature is something which is implied in conversation, that something which is left implicit in actual language use. The topic of Indonesia Lawyers Club is "Geng Motor & Peradilan Jalanan". That Indonesia Lawyers Club operate their conversation along with the possible implications that motive behind the implicature. Qualitative method was conducted in processing the transcription of the 291 utterrances recorded data. The intended features were identified, classified, calculated, and then separately analyzed based on conversational implicature throuhg Cooperative Principle maxims theory proposed by Grice (1975). The result shows that the host and the participants tended to use particularized conversational implicature (62%) rather than the generalized conversationaJ implicature (38%). The writer also found that particularized conversational implicatures occur because the speaker did flouting maxims of relation (49%), and manner (10%) in cooperative principle. Based on the inference or motive behind contains, the occurrences of particular conversational implicature is because of thematic switching and indirection teasing.
