Abstract

Lately there are many movies made based on history. Usually those movies have many versions although they are based on one same history. They cannot portray exactly as the same legitimized history version. Indeed those differences cannot be judged as bad or good Movies based on certain history always have different interpretation according to the time when the movies are made. It happens because the producers are influenced by the condition of the time when they make the movies, such as the way of thinking, understanding, and accepting something which is happening around the This thesis tries to observe the cause of those differences which appear in the movie version. The movie which is going to be examined is Luc Besson's movie The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc. It will be compared to the legitimized history of Joan of Arc. Despite the different media, the writer believes that these two subjects are representative enough in describing the differences as mentioned before in the context of cultural studies.
