Abstract

This thesis is dealing with the influence of using the Javanese language toward Javanese grade at school. In this thesis, the writer would like to know students' grade for the Javanese language and their opinions toward the Javanese language taught at school. It is surely interesting for her to know these two things because young children nowadays are having more tendency to use the Indonesian language than the Javanese one. On the contrary, the Javanese language is still taught as one of the compulsory subjects in the junior high school level. Therefore, the writer is trying to find out some evidence through some variables which may influence their Javanese grade as well as their opinions toward Javanese taught at school. She finds out that if the Javanese language used in their daily communication at school, it may influence their Javanese grade. Because it has a significant relationship with the Javanese language taught at school. Most students say that the Javanese language taught at school is not an interesting subject besides, it is difficult to learn. However, most students do not agree if this subject is abolished because the Javanese language is still important to learn in order to maintain the Javanese culture
