Abstract

This research revealed lesbians phenomenon amongst Arabian society whose people are socially considered to be highly religious. Researcher conducted a research on how Arab lesbians are able to negotiate themselves between two religion and desire. By using the theory of Personal Myth proposed by Dan P. McAdams, researcher conducted in depth interviews supported by a qualitative methodology to find answers to the problem. Researcher found that all of them have the same theme in their childhoods. During the time when they were only kids, enforcement to understand religious lessons maintained by their parents led them to have their own Arab cultural awareness. Since then, they began to figure out their own expectation of their life. This study mainly aims to expose the process of identity change and the struggle to go against existing norms in their society that these lesbians have to face during the process of finding who they really are and how they negotiating the religion and desire.
