Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the prevalence of helminthiasis and to find out various kinds of the gastrointestinal tract worm egg that infected proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus) at two different exsitu conservation Surabaya Zoo and Taman Safari Indonesia II. Stool samples were taken from Surabaya Zoo as many as 30 samples and Taman Safari Indonesia II as many as 15 samples, respectively. Stool examination was performed by sedimentation and floatation methods. The results showed that 30 samples of stool in proboscis monkey Surabaya Zoo showed that 10 (33.33%) samples were positive infected by gastrointestinal helminth egg of Trichuris sp and 15 samples of stool proboscis monkey in Taman Safari Indonesia II showed that 8 (53.33%) samples were positive infected with gastrointestinal tract are seven eggs of Trichuris sp and one egg of Oesophagostomum sp.
