Abstract

'The Tower' is one of the most complicated poems which represented the three-part-structured by William Butler Yeats. The complication was there referred to the speaker of the poem that explains about absurdities as the journey. In this case, the writer tries to find the significance meaning of the journey as the message of the poem. Yet, it's difficult to have a good understanding of poem without having a good interpretation of the meaning implied. Moreover, three sections in the poem have unpredictable reason which can be deny by the writer. New Criticism theory will be applied in order to analyze the results of the speaker's journey. The procedures of study will be focusing on giving description on the analysis of the formal elements, linguistic devices and organic unity of the poem, in order to analyze the poem and to expose the complexity of the speaker. The formal elements of the poem, support the finding of the significant meaning as the message of poem "The Tower". This research is aimed to enrich the knowledge in poetry study from transcription of the message poem.
