Abstract

There are two purposes in this research, which are to identify as well as map the types of onomatopoeia, and also to identify the translation procedure used to translate onomatopoeia. The object of this study is Asterix and the Golden Sickle comic book. By using comparative method between English and Indonesian version this study analyzes the translation procedure proposed by Vinay and Darbelnet. As the result, Equivalence is the dominant translation procedure used in Asterix and the Golden Sickle comic book. Equivalence is suitable procedure as it may convey the sense, spirit, manner, and produce similar response of the source text into target text (Nida: 1964).
