Abstract

Introduction: Non-adherence medication is found among client with pulmonary tuberculosis in poli paru general hospital Haji Surabaya. The client adherence medication is influeced by various factor. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relation of family health task to medication adherence among clients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods: The design of this study was corelation cross sectional approach, with 45 sampel size of pUlmonary tuberculosis client who taken by using purposive sampling technique. Independent variables of this study were family health task which includes five dimensions, recognizing family member health problem, taking decisions for appropriate action, caring for ill family members, modifying healthy environment and utilizing the available health care facilities. Dependent variable was medication adherence. Data were taken using the questionnaires than analyzed with Spearman rho test. Results: There was a relation between tasks of family health: recognizing family member health problem (p: 0.001), taking decisions for appropriate action (p: 0.000), caring for ill family members (0,003), modifying healthy environment (p: 0.006 ), and utilizing the available health care facilities (0,001) with medication adherence clients pulmonary tuberculosis. Discussion: The research of this study suggest hospital to arrange health education to the family and patient to increase the quality of health servis. The family can provide condusive envirotment for the client and further research can develop a better research by using other methods such as direct observation, demonstration, and simulation.
